MCU & Gateways

Multi-Party Calls Anyone?

Although point-to-point videoconferences are important in communications, multipoint video connections have been found to be even more important. Multi-party, multi-site, or multipoint videoconferencing permits a large number of video endpoints to simultaneously participate in a videoconference. Multipoint videoconferencing is accomplished by each video endpoint connecting to a multipoint control unit or MCU. MCUs are designed to support multipoint videoconferences with high video quality and high fidelity audio when used with video endpoints that comply with industry standards.

MCU highlights include:

  • Ideal for video communications where more than 4 participants must communicate transparently and in real time
  • Continuous Presence “Hollywood Squares” video windows and other formats
  • Full motion, 30 frames per second video
  • Standards-based solutions
  • Scalable architecture with varying port capacities
  • Web-based user interface for centralized management

Gateways to Tomorrow . . .

Make dialing and connecting easy and cost effective through the utilization of a gateway. Gateways provide customers seamless voice, video and data connectivity between ISDN and IP networks, different networks and standards to deliver feature-rich, reliable, and stable multimedia communications. Gateways are ideal for connecting IP videoconferencing networks with ISDN endpoints and networks to fully utilize existing infrastructure investments. They are designed for organizations that want to ensure complete interoperability and superb reliability through network detection and automatic recovery of communications and resources.

Gateway highlights include:

  • Standards-compliant solutions with guaranteed interoperability
  • High quality communications for voice, video, and data streams
  • Intelligent management of communication channels to ensure optimal utilization of available resources and services
  • Network-wide detection and automatic recovery of communication and resources resulting in superb reliability
  • Web-based, intuitive user interface controls for management
  • Scalable solutions for distributed or centralized network environments
